04 - Hayes to Whyteleafe - 25th November 2023 (19 km)

Had a lazy start this morning. It was a chilly but sunny morning. The train into Hayes went very slowly. For some reason. That was fine. I didn’t mind since I was already on it.

BTW : It would make an okay half day out to walk from Hayes to the tram stop at the top of Addington Hills from where you could get a train back to East Croydon and onward from there. So Richard might like that.

Having so many leaves on the floor can at times, make it really hard to see where the path is or goes. But also, it was a very pretty day. Perhaps peak or very slightly past peak autumn. Very glad I went.

Getting home from White leaf was a cold affair. It had already got dark by the time I got to the station and though the train was on time, it was going to London Bridge so I had to get off at Norwood Junction and take a bus. 193 I think. And that bus took 15 minutes to arrive so I had to stand in the freezing cold waiting. It seemed an age. I got very chilled by the time I got home, I just had a warm drink and jumped into bed with a hot water bottle and stayed there till morning.
